Who is Gula?  Also known as Ninkarrak in Sumerian mythology, is a goddess associated with healing and medicine in ancient Mesopotamian religion. Gula was believed to have the power to cure illnesses and alleviate suffering, and she was often invoked by those seeking healing. In art and literature, she is sometimes depicted accompanied by dogs, which were considered sacred animals associated with healing.
